Stability in Every Step
CASE NO. 04
Employee Theft of Services Investigation
The Problem
Suspicious discounts and unexplained service adjustments began appearing in the accounting records of a retail service operation. Initial internal reviews suggested a pattern of misconduct, but leadership lacked the neutral, structured evidence needed to take action without risking a wrongful termination claim or damaging team morale.
What I Did
I conducted a focused, evidence-based investigation into the service records and financial transactions. This included interviewing key personnel using neutral fact-finding techniques and cross-referencing digital logs with physical inventory. By maintaining a steady, objective presence, I was able to isolate the specific misconduct from standard operational errors and identify the individuals involved while protecting the privacy of the rest of the team.
The Outcome
The investigation delivered clear, documented findings that substantiated the theft of services. This allowed the client to move forward with a defensination of the responsible employees, effectively closing the gap on financial loss. Beyond the immediate resolution, I helped the client strengthen their internal controls and audit processes, bringing stability back to the operation and clear expectations to the remaining staff.
